Introduction to Digital Animation Workshop

Duration: 3 hours

Workshop Overview: This workshop is designed to introduce beginners to the world of digital animation using software like FlipaClip and Character Animator. Participants will engage in hands-on activities aimed at building their skills and confidence in creating basic animations. By the end of the session, each participant will have completed a simple animation project.

Workshop Structure:

  1. Introduction (15 minutes)

    • Welcome and introduction to the workshop.

    • Brief overview of digital animation and its applications.

    • Introduction to FlipaClip and Character Animator software.

  2. Getting Started with FlipaClip (45 minutes)

    • Activity: Drawing and animating a simple bouncing ball (20 minutes).

    • Demonstration: Basic tools and features of FlipaClip (10 minutes).

    • Hands-on Practice: Participants create their own bouncing ball animation using FlipaClip (15 minutes).

  3. Introduction to Character Animator (45 minutes)

    • Activity: Creating a simple character rig (20 minutes).

    • Demonstration: Overview of Character Animator interface and functionalities (10 minutes).

    • Hands-on Practice: Participants create a simple character animation using pre-built rigs in Character Animator (15 minutes).

  4. Combining Animations (30 minutes)

    • Activity: Importing FlipaClip and Character Animator animations into a video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or iMovie) and combining them to create a short animation sequence (20 minutes).

    • Demonstration: Basic video editing techniques for combining animations (10 minutes).
